Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners, made for your teeth, to move them gradually into place. Most people find it more comfortable than braces, and hardly anyone notices you are wearing it.

Dentistry on Park is a Diamond provider of Invisalign. Dr. Daniil Payziyev plans your treatment, shows you the path your teeth will take, and checks your progress along the way.

Common questions

Most asked questions

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually move your teeth into place. Each set is made for your mouth and swapped on a schedule.

How much does Invisalign cost in NYC?

Cost depends on the length and difficulty of your case. You get a clear fee at your consultation, and payment plans are available.

How long does Invisalign take?

Most cases take 6 to 18 months. Mild cases can be faster. Wearing your aligners as directed is what keeps you on schedule.

Does Invisalign hurt?

You may feel pressure or soreness for a day or two when you start a new set. It is usually milder than braces. Cold water and over-the-counter pain relievers help.

How does Invisalign work?

We scan your teeth, plan every step, and you get a series of aligners. Each moves your teeth a small amount. You change to the next set about every one to two weeks.

Invisalign or braces: which is better?

Invisalign is removable, more discreet and easier to clean. Braces can suit a few very complex cases. We recommend what works best for you.

How many hours a day do I wear Invisalign?

About 20 to 22 hours a day. You take them out to eat, drink anything but water, and brush.

Can Invisalign fix crooked teeth?

Yes, from mild to many complex cases.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?

Most people with healthy teeth and gums are. A scan and exam show you what is possible and what your result will look like.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?

We are out of network with insurance. We can provide the paperwork you need to submit to your plan, but we cannot promise reimbursement. Payment plans are available.

Can I eat normally with Invisalign?

Yes. Take the aligners out to eat, then brush before putting them back.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse them each time you remove them, brush gently with a soft brush and cool water every day. Avoid hot water, which can warp them.

Will Invisalign give me a lisp?

You may notice it for a few days. It almost always goes away quickly as your tongue adjusts.

Do I need a retainer after Invisalign?

Yes. Teeth can drift back, so retainers keep your result. We tell you what to wear and when.

What if I lose or break an aligner?

Call us. Often you can move to your next set or go back to the previous one while we order a replacement. See our emergency page.

Can teenagers get Invisalign?

Yes, when their adult teeth are in. Teens need to wear the aligners consistently.

Can I whiten my teeth during Invisalign?

Yes. Many patients whiten with their aligners, or wait and do it after. We can show you how.

What are the disadvantages of Invisalign?

You must wear the aligners almost all day, they need daily cleaning, and you have to remember them when you eat out. Some complex cases need other treatment.

Who should not get Invisalign?

People with severe jaw or bite problems, or who will not wear the aligners as directed. Active gum disease needs treatment first.

Why is my Invisalign not working?

The usual reasons are not enough daily wear, aligners that are not fully seated, or a change in the plan. Call us and we will check it and adjust.

More questions

Is Invisalign worth it?

For many adults and teens, yes. It is nearly invisible, removable for eating and brushing, and usually more comfortable than braces.

Is Invisalign more comfortable than braces?

Most patients find it so. There are no wires or brackets to irritate your cheeks and lips.

Can adults get Invisalign?

Yes. Most of our Invisalign patients are adults.

Can Invisalign close gaps?

Yes. Gaps are among the easiest things for it to fix.

Can Invisalign fix an overbite, underbite or crossbite?

Many bite problems, yes. Some severe ones need other treatment, and we will tell you at the consultation.

Can Invisalign fix crowded teeth?

Yes. We create space with small, careful adjustments between teeth.

Is Invisalign as effective as braces?

For most cases, yes. Results depend on wearing the aligners as directed.

Can I drink coffee or wine with Invisalign?

Take them out first. Water is the only thing to drink with aligners in.

What are attachments?

Small tooth-colored bumps that help the aligners grip and move certain teeth. They are removed at the end of treatment.

What is IPR (interproximal reduction)?

A tiny, painless polish between teeth that makes space when needed. It is only done when the plan calls for it.

How often do I come in during Invisalign?

You come in for regular progress checks, and we tell you how often at your consultation.

Can I monitor Invisalign progress remotely?

Between visits, we may ask you to send progress photos so we can check your aligners and tell you what to do next.

What if my aligners do not fit?

A small gap at first is common. If an aligner will not seat after a day or two, call us.

Can I skip wearing Invisalign for a day?

Try not to. Missed hours slow progress and can make later sets fit poorly.

Can I wear Invisalign while I sleep?

Yes. Sleeping is part of your daily wear time.

Are Invisalign attachments or aligners noticeable?

Aligners are clear and very hard to see. Attachments are tooth colored.

Does Invisalign work for severe cases?

Many, yes. We will tell you honestly what to expect.

Can I use my HSA or FSA for Invisalign?

Usually yes. Check with your plan administrator and we will give you the paperwork you need.

Do you offer payment plans for Invisalign?

Yes. Ask at your consultation.

What happens at an Invisalign consultation?

We scan your teeth, review your goals and show a preview of the plan. You leave with a clear price and timeline.

Can I see my results before starting Invisalign?

Yes. Your plan includes a digital preview of how your teeth will move.

What is a refinement?

A small extra set of aligners made near the end of treatment to fine tune your result. It is common and included as long as you wear your aligners as prescribed.

Can I get Invisalign if I have crowns, bridges or implants?

Often yes. Teeth with crowns move normally. Implants do not move, so we plan around them.

Can I get Invisalign before veneers?

Yes, and it is often the smarter order. Moving teeth first can mean thinner or fewer veneers.

Is there an Invisalign provider near me on the Upper East Side?

Yes. Dentistry on Park is a Diamond provider of Invisalign at 842 Park Avenue.

Is Invisalign painful for the first week?

Expect some pressure for the first few days of each new set, then it fades.

Can Invisalign be done in 6 months?

Some mild cases, yes. We tell you the real timeline at your scan, not a guess.

What is the minimum age for Invisalign?

There is no fixed age. It depends on whether the adult teeth are in. We check at the exam.

Why do some dentists not recommend Invisalign?

It is not right for every case and it depends on the patient wearing it. For the right case it is a proven option, and we tell you if it is not right for you.

How long does it take to get used to Invisalign?

Usually a few days. Soreness and speech changes fade quickly.

How do my teeth look after Invisalign?

Straighter, evenly spaced and easier to clean. Teeth that are straight can also reflect light better, so they often look brighter.
